Scantrol iSYM Autotrawl Systems With Patented 'Symmetry Control'

It is a fact that when towing with a conventional autotrawl there are situations where the trawl can be skewed, and the catching efficiency
sharply reduced.

After two years of research, the iSYM replacing Scantrol 2000 was introduced in January 2004. The iSYM is more
intelligent adding several new functions to increase catching efficiency of the trawl without comprimising the user friendliness that has become a trademark for the Scantrol systems.
This revolutionary new system controls the trawl automatically to get the water
flow directly into the trawl opening. A Scanmar symmetry sensor mounted on the
headline measures the direction of the water flow in the trawl opening. This
sensor is connected to the Scantrol system that controls the tension in the
trawl wires individually to get the flow of water direct into the trawl
opening. The trawl is filled with water hitting square on, staying open and
well spread.

Correct symmetry is essential for the stability of the trawl, and secures good
bottom contact, even when towing along sloped edges. The symmetry sensor is
mounted on the middle of the headline, and accurately measures distortions in
the trawl geometry. A one meter change in wire length difference is detected by
the sensor.
SCANTROL improves the efficiency of your trawl in difficult fishing conditions:
-
Towing in adverse weather
- Towing along sloped edges.
- Towing in difficult tide
and current conditions.
SCANTROL also helps to overcome system problems:
-
Unequal wire tension due to high friction in winches (gearbox), or inaccurate
pressure control.
- Rigging problems
